Reintegration has begun...

UK to re Horizon project.

UKCA abandoned as a bad idea and CE readopted.

Just need the politicians to now it that Brexit was a disaster, and include something in their mamafestos about reing. Only a matter of time really...

Other than Lib-Dems, who have always maintained their pro-EU stance, major parties are frightened of voter reaction over any plan to re the EU. Labour are still reeling from their catastrophic defeat in 2019 over their mixed message about Brexit vs Boris' simplistic but effective 'Get Brexit Done'. So, no or not yet. Not till election after the next, having gauged public opinion and mood in the next 5 years.

There simply isn't the political appetite at this time.

Brexit topic has become toxic.

Yes, agree with your timeline of 5 years.

We also have to that it was the politicians that dreamt up this mess called Brexit, it was only grass roots driven latterly.

Mostly now brexiteers have gone to ground.

I suspect that various bits & pieces of 'EU hip' will gradually be adopted as individual deals.

So the UK will eventually be subject to lots of EU rules but have no say.

Being realistic, can you honestly see the EU giving the UK the same deal as previously, with all the 'opt outs'?

Remains to be seen, the for re-entry.

For example I can see there being pressure to adopt the euro. However, Poland still has the zloty.

The opt-outs that Thatcher negotiated will probably be out, as these were quite preferential.

The EU would be in a position of strength in such a negotiation, and in fact might want to make the point that if a country leaves, any re-entry would mean a poorer deal.
