That's the reason I'm leaving Belize. It's beautiful, but 10 years here no friends, no dating scene either, the isolation is too much. Not only that, there are no direct flights to anywhere except North America which I'm not from there.

I wish you the best. I've been with my partner for 28 years and very sensitive to those that have to consider dating potential. It's another animal in itself. I'd be interested in where you end up. One thing I is it's hard to connect with people even in your home Country. People just aren't available. Also, as much as I want to connect with others I'm only available to a certain mindset which is rare to find. Such is life.

Costa Rica may have seen crime increase over the last years, but one has to it's coming from being a very safe country in a Latin American comparison, and still is.
Key is to be part of the community around you, neighbors, the expat communities and locals, and modern technology easily allows for of measures to be taken to make sure you can sleep at night. Not so different from many other places around the world.
